It’s for the Nintendo Switch, but it’s not your typical game. It’s an exercise game.
I had read many great reviews about the product - I say this because the game itself is simple, but the results seem to be genuine.
For context, I’m a sedentary male who loathes going to the gym - I’ve tried so many ways to make it fun but it always fails. I may stick with it for a few months, but eventually I give up because the gym sucks. I hate it. I’m jealous of those who actually enjoy it because they can live fitter (and potentially happier) lives.
This game combines something I hate - exercise - with something I love - video games. Points. Coins. XP.
I just tried it out for the first time, and what I’ve discovered is that I’m horribly unfit. I’m sure it’s the same for many people who are sedentary like me - I’ll exercise later, I’m too busy, etc. and your body slowly withers away but you don’t notice because it happens so gradually.
After 10 minutes I was already sweating - not quite like I used to after half an hour on the treadmill, but keep in mind this is a video game. I decided not to overexert myself today since I’ve made the mistake before of going too hard on Day 1 and basically being incapacitated for a week afterwards because my muscles told me to fuck off.
It’s actually kind of fun and for the first time in years (probably since high school gym class) I had fun exercising. Plus, I don’t have to leave the house so I can do it butt naked if I wanted to (I did not... this time...) so it’s really convenient.
If you’re interested, I’d recommend checking out reviews on Youtube.
It’s by no means a replacement for the gym, but if it means a half hour of exercise versus no exercise, I think it’s a good deal. Plus, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than a gym membership.

‘I’ve made the mistake before of going too hard on Day 1 and basically being incapacitated for a week afterwards because my muscles told me to fuck off”
LOL. I get this. tried to restart the gym twice in the past month. did the same mistake twice.

That’s great! I hope this can keep your interest and you can stick with it!
I hope that as we move into the future developers can come up with more, better fitness games. Imagine a Call of Duty where you actually had to run on a treadmill or something to run in game. Actually, wait, lemme patent that first...
Anyways, it’s all about making exercise fun. I like being outdoors but never set aside the time to go hiking and sutff. But in early 2019 Mrs. Snuze and I got a dog. Now I’m forced to go out and walk around and I love it. And I’m down about 10 lbs.

I wanted to get a dog for that reason - it would force me to get out.
However, I just can’t do that to the dog - it’d have to be alone for 9-10 hours a day and be sad (and make me sad as well) or I’d have to get someone to walk my dog mid-day, every day (which would likely make my bank account sad).
Coincidentally, I was thinking about how fucking fit I’d be if I had to jog for the whole 80+ hours I’ve played Breath of the Wild instead of doing the opposite by sitting on my ass and doing some combination of eating/drinking/smoking.

The worst was when I did the squats too hard and for a week afterwards I wanted to die while walking; standing up and sitting down were agony.
I haven’t made that mistake since, probably because I don’t really ever exercise.

I think it depends a lot on the dog. W e leave our dog home alone for 7-8 hours a day. I walk him for a good mile or so before I leave for work (between 7 and 8 ) and my wife gets home around 3 and takes him on another long walk. Then we usually both walk him again after dinner. This dog gets walked 3 miles a day, minimum. But he’s fine all day at home by himself. Never had any accidents, and he doesn’t run right out and pee the moment he gets let out, like its an emergency . M ost dogs sleep upwards of 16 hours a day, so I don’t feel too bad, I’m sure that son of a gun is up sleeping in “his” chair. That I bought. For me.
Also, I’m imagining one of these - they are meant for office workers so you can get a little cardio while you’re at a desk. I’ m thinking put a sensor on it so you can measure RPM, and hook it up to a video game controller. Then in the games you get a slow default movement speed, and anytime you want to walk faster or sprint, you pedal appropriately. I think we’d need ballsy developers , though, people willing to make games that *require* this as an input if you want to have any speed at all. But I also think people are smart and would find work arounds, like hooking a drill motor up to one of the sides or something. I dunno. But still, it could be a start to getting gamers more active in a way that makes it fun.
